Welcome to Wangaratta Target Archers!
Wangaratta Target Archers is a vibrant archery club with a strong community and family atmosphere. We cater to all members of the community who have a desire to participate in archery, whether you're a beginner or an experienced archer. Our members range in age from 7 years and up, from all over the North East region of Victoria and beyond. The club embraces archers with all levels of experience, from those just starting out to those with over 40 years in the sport.

These affiliations help ensure that we maintain high standards for the sport. We also work with Good Sports to create a safe and supportive environment for all members.
Our club is community built on the principles of inclusivity and diversity, where individuals from all backgrounds, abilities, and identities are welcomed and valued. It fosters an environment of respect, collaboration, and mutual support, ensuring everyone feels a sense of belonging and opportunity to participate.
Club History and Facilities
Wangaratta Target Archers (formerly Wangaratta Archers) was founded in September 2012 and has grown steadily ever since. We have a well-maintained outdoor range located at South Wangaratta Sports Reserve, 58 Shanley Street, South Wangaratta, next to the Wangaratta Speedway. The range is spacious, providing ample room for many archers to shoot, and provides plenty of parking.
Our indoor target range, at the Wangaratta Showgrounds opened in April 2014, is available from April to October on Thursday evenings and can accommodate up to 20 archers. It’s also available during summer if the weather makes the outdoor range unusable.
Disciplines We Support
We support all disciplines of target archery, including:
- Recurve
- Compound
- Longbow
- Barebow
No matter your discipline, there’s always someone at the club who can help you improve. Crossbow shooters are also welcome with specific arrangements, as long as all legal requirements for crossbows are met.
Programs And Training
Whether you're new to archery or an elite athlete, we offer programs to help you grow in the sport:
Have a Go with a Bow: A great introductory experience for people new to archery who want to see if it’s something they’d enjoy.
Go for Gold Program: For those looking to gain a deeper understanding of archery, this formal training class is led by two accredited archery instructors over three weeks. Whether you're aiming for personal enjoyment or Olympic-level training, this program provides the skills and confidence to take your archery to the next level.
