Wangaratta Archers is an archery club with a strong community and family atmosphere. The club is for all members of the community, with a desire to participate in archery. Wangaratta Archers has members ranging in age from 5 years to 74 years, from all over the North East region of Victoria and beyond. Our members range in experience from the humble beginner, to over 40 years of experience in the sport.
The club is affiliated amidst some of the world’s leading organisations and governing bodies setting the standards for the sport around the world. Wangaratta Archers is proud to be working alongside World Archery, Archery Australia, and Archery Victoria in developing archery as a fun and safe sport into the future.
Wangaratta Archers was founded in September 2012 and has had a steady growth in membership during this time. Our outdoor target range is well kept, with ample parking. We are located next to the Wangaratta Speedway in the South Wangaratta Sports reserve, 58 Shanley Street South Wangaratta. There is plenty of room at the shooting line for many archers, with the clubs weekly target shoot held on a Sunday morning.
Our indoor target range was opened for the first time in April 2014 and is a shared facility throughout the year. The indoor target range is in use by Wangaratta Archers Inc. from April to October on a Thursday evening and can accommodate up to 16 archers at a time. Wangaratta Archers supports all disciplines of target archery, Recurve, Compound, Longbow and Barebow. No matter which archery discipline you have an interest in, there is someone to help and guide you along the way. Crossbow shooters are also welcome by specific arrangement, as long as all legal requirements for Crossbows are met. This is the responsibility of the Crossbow Archer. The club is more than happy to work with disabled and the vision impaired who wish to be involved in the sport.
If you are new to archery or an elite archer, Wangaratta Archers will support and help you gain the confidence and experience, to be the best archer you can be. The “OzBow Come and Try” program, from Archery Australia is a great place to start for people that are new to the sport and wish to try it out to see if it is a sport they can enjoy.
For people wanting to gain a more in-depth understanding of archery, the “OzBow Introduction to Archery” program, from Archery Australia is for you. The delivery is in the form of formal training classes with one of our accredited archery instructors, over a six week period. The six weeks do not have to be consecutive. Whether you have a passing interest in archery or wish to become an Olympic archer. Either of these courses will give you the skills and confidences, for you to have a lifelong enjoyment of archery.
Wangaratta Archers would like to welcome, and invite you to be a part of the world of archery. See you on the shooting line.
